Buy the Sourdough Pants and Shorts sewing pattern from Sew Bake Make. These wide leg, elastic waist pants and shorts have lots of options and fun style details. 

View A is a pair of pants with a paperbag ruffle waistband, drawstrings that tie at the sides, in-seam pockets, a faux fly, and extra deep hem. View C is the shorts version of View A with optional slits at the hem.

View B is a pair of pants with a classic elastic waistband, drawstring that ties in the front, slash pockets, and a regular hem. View D is the shorts version of View B.

You can also mix and match elements between the views to create a completely custom pair of pants or shorts!

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: Some of the pattern pieces have been split (to fit on the A0 sheets) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: Light to medium weight woven fabrics such as linen, linen blends, twill, lightweight canvas or denim, cotton, or cotton blends. The designer recommends fabrics that weigh 6-7 oz (200-230 gsm). You can also use a low stretch knit such as sweatshirt fabric with 20-30% stretch. Blends with rayon and viscose work well too, but beware that they tend to grow when sewing with them!

View A: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 3 1/2 - 5 1/2 yd (3.2 - 5.1 m) // 54" (1.4 m) wide fabric: 3 - 3 3/4 yd (2.7 - 3.4 m).

View B: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 3 1/2 - 4 7/8 yd (3.1 - 4.4 m) // 54" (1.4 m) wide fabric: 3 1/2 - 4 yd (3.1 - 3.6 m).

View C: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 2 1/4 - 3 1/2 yd (2 - 3.2 m) // 54" (1.4 m) wide fabric: 1 7/8 - 2 3/4 yd (1.7 - 2.5 m).

View D: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 1 7/8 - 3 yd (1.7 - 2.7 m) // 54" (1.4 m) wide fabric: 1 7/8 - 2 7/8 yd (1.7 - 2.6 m).

Sizing: 00 – 34 (approx. UK 6 – 36, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

This pattern is drafted for someone who is 5'6" (167 cm) tall.
